This image of a whitetail deer was captured during the winter of 2006 at Harriman State Park. During the winter the deer can frequently be found close to the road. I was able to shoot this image from within my car, I found that getting out of the car would alarm the animals and cause them to retreat to the surrounding woods, however they seem quite content if you stay within the confines of the car.
